How to Add custom search to Google Chrome Omnibox:

• Lauch Google Chrome in Windows Operating System XP/Vista/Win 7 (Note: this is a tutorial mainly for Google chrome running on Windows, try in Mac at your own risk)
• Go to the Setting option in your Google chrome browser which is located at the right side top of your browser
• After opening the settings box go to Options page where you will be seeing Search option
• Go into the “Manage Search Engines” which will lead you to a page and go to “Other Search Engine”

• Here you will have to fill 3 boxes to add a new search engine to your chrome Omnibox.

• First Box: Add a new search engine name
• Second Box: Website keyword
• Third Box: Search URL and replace the search query with %s as seen in the image below.

Now you can easily search in your desired website directly from chrome which will save you a lot of time.

How to Install Simple Startup Password:

1) Go to Google Chrome web Store – https://chrome.google.com/webstore

2) Type Simple Startup Password in the top right box for Search.

3) Then there will be options coming up in the Extensions.

4) Then on clicking the App opens and you will given an option to Install the App. Which will be automatically installed.5) To type the Password you have to got the Settings -> Tools -> Extensions.

6) Extensions page opens and you can see your app in that where you have to go into the Options as seen in the image below.

7) Which will opens a page showing Enter Password, where you have to enter your desired password and press Enter which will open a box ‘Password was Safed’

 And after opening Google chrome browser the next time you will be asked to “Enter Browser Startup Password”

So this is how you can Password protect your Google Chrome browser avoiding unwanted access.

I think it is foolishness for me to sit here and explain about what exactly Wave is, as there are thousands of sites along with Google itself spending loads of $’s, and i dont think i can do any better.

So now coming to the Features which are all already available in the market under many other softwares, which Google has only brought together and called it the Google wave.

I am writing this because the other day i read in Techcrunch what the people were saying about Google wave – “Wave was born out of the idea that email and instant messaging, as successful as they still are, were both created a very long time ago. We now have a much more robust web full of content and brimming with a desire to share stuff. Or as Lars Rasumussen put it, “Wave is what email would look like if it were invented today.”

I think that Wave is not a think which is invented today but it is a thing which is a group of all the functionalities taken from different places and grouped together to form the “WAVE”.

Now i will try to justify my statement here:

-Real-time: In most instances, you can see what someone else is typing, character-by-character. ( This can be seen in Yahoo messenger in ur IM box)
-Embeddability: Waves can be embedded on any blog or website.(Taken from Flickr, which can also e embeded in your blog)
-Applications and Extensions: Just like a Facebook application or an iGoogle gadget, developers can build their own apps within waves. They can be anything from bots to complex real-time games.(as already m,entiuoned above taken from social networking sites like Facebook, orkut. . etc)
-Wiki functionality: Anything written within a Google Wave can be edited by anyone else, because all conversations within the platform are shared. Thus, you can correct information, append information, or add your own commentary within a developing conversation. (Taken from Wikipedia)
-Open source: The Google Wave code will be open source, to foster innovation and adoption amongst developers.
-Playback: You can playback any part of the wave to see what was said.(Again taken from Yahoo messenger Preferences where you can see the stored conversations)
-Natural language: Google Wave can autocorrect your spelling, even going as far as knowing the difference between similar words, like “been” and “bean.” It can also auto-translate on-the-fly s.(Word checker is seen in many social networking sites)
-Drag-and-drop file sharing: No attachments; just drag your file and drop it inside Google Wave and everyone will have access. (Again comes the Yahoo Messenger “Photo Sharing”)

These were some of the features which i mentioned here from wave, there are many other features but i think that i cannot see anything new in it apart from the feature that they are combining the features which have been a hit in the other Communication platforms.
