Steps to be followed to track yopur lost phone:
When you buy a new phone the first and foremost thing you have to do is to note down its imei number. If you dont know how to get your imei number you can check here
So when you loose your phone, take your imei number and then mail it to this i.d

I have already lodged a complaint as directed by you. But so far nothing concrete has been materialized. I wonder whether it could be true, that the Chennai police would be able to tract my lost mobile phone and restore it to me, leave alone othe valuables which I have lost, along with the mobile, kept inside my hand bag. Can you acknowledge receipt of this message?

I am sorry to inform you this, but the service which was earlier provided by the Chennai police has been stopped due to unkown reasons.
So i think the helping days are over now.
