iPhone 3GS vs iPhone 3G

The new generation iPhone the iPhone 3GS which was released somedays back flares the Speed tag in its name.

So lets see the changes in the new 3GS from the old 3G

Specifications:

The outer panel or hardware are the same in both the iPhones the old and the new.

As speculated there is no front camera which would have enabled the Video calling facility seen in many smart phones.

Camera:

iPhone 3G: 2Mp

iPhone 3GS: 3Mp

Apple giving a better Camera than the previous one is a welcome change maily for the Flickr Community which uses the iPhone more than any onther phone.

Video recording:

iPhone 3G: No video recording facility.

iPhone 3GS: Video recording with 30fps.

This is a good addition which will make the iPhone competitive with the other Smartphones which flaunt a Video Recordr

Wireless support:

iPhone 3G: HSDPA with 3.2 Mbps

iPhone 3GS: HSDPA with 7.2 Mbps

This is mainly useful as 7.2 Mbps is going to take over from the existing 3Mbps speed.

Battery:

iPhone 3G:

Wifi – 6hours data transfer

Audio – 24 hours

Video – 7 hours

iPhone 3GS:

Wifi – 9 hours

Audio – 30 hours

Video – 10 hours

The main advantage is with the battery which was sadi to be bad in the iPhone 3G, has been looked after this time.

Weight:

iPhone 3G: 133 grms

iPhone 3GS: 135 grms

Applications:

iPhone 3GS has a whole new set of features and awesome apps like the

Compass

Voice control

Video camera with editor

Improved Battery life

MMS facility by directly recording through the MMS Zone

Landscape mode for Notes, Messaging.

Spotlight- To search your iPhone for any file in any corner of the phone

Price:

iPhone 3G:

16 Gb – 199$ (not avaiable after 3GS release)

32Gb – 299$ (not avaiable after 3GS release)

8Gb- 99$

(These models are not available now as Apple is only releasing the 8Gb 3G models which is available at 99$ )

iPhone 3GS:

16Gb- 199$

32Gb- 299$

The new i Phone 3GS is availble in the market for the common man from 17th June 2009 through the AT&T network providers, if you want to get your hands on the new 3GS before others you have to head to your nearest AT&T center as soon as possible as there are people who are already lined up outside the store.

Although it has been almost an year (July 2008 – june 2009) since its release the iPhone teardown has been always in the news as many iPhone enthusiasts like mewho want to see what is there under this neatly dressed beautand learn somethings and self repair somethings which apple does not offer their services.

You can call it Disassembling (or) Teardown (or) opening an iPhone, or what ever you like.

The iPhoine 3G which does not have a battery panel like that in the 2nd Generation phone has a battery built in the panel.

The beauty had to stipped naked and the parts be exposed to see what this masterpiece was made up of and what makes it such a gadget.

Fixit.com which i recently came across have been doing their teardown thing from a long time on all the new gadgets coming into the market from time to time.

These people tore down the iPhone 3G in 29 steps including their great efforts in getting hold of the 3G firsthand in Newzeland from step n.o 1 to 7, from step number 11 we can see the actual opening up of the 3G.

I could make out that the iPhone is made of parts made by many companies like Philips screws, Samsung Processor , Toshiba flash,Intel flash, Marvel for the bluetooth and wifi.

On the whole i can say that there has been a good contribution from many companies in making this beauty with brains become reality.

Apple has made many changes to make the 3G easy for repair.

You can view the whole teardown process here in fixit.com
